Let's not forget nature made our clothes. Unlike synthetic clothes, our alpaca items are biodegradable and sustainable.
3) LOW CARBON FOOTPRINT
A good majority of clothing brands manufacture in China or other parts of Asia. However, not all their clothing materials come from the same place. So, many companies have to ship their materials from other countries to Asia and then other parts of the world so they can be sold. This means transporting materials across the world by sea or air multiple times causing more emissions into our air.
We source our wool in Peru, create our clothes in Peru, package our clothes in Peru, and only ship when the clothes are entirely made. We try our best to minimize the transportation when making our clothes to reduce our carbon foot-print. We're not perfect, but we will keep striving to make our production more eco-friendly and provide a full supply chain traceability.
4) ALPACAS ARE TREATED WITH RESPECT
Peruvian farmers have been shearing their alpacas for several generation in the Peruvian Andes. The alpacas graze in a non-stressful environment that help them remain calm during shearing. They are carefully placed on their side and their wool is gently cut with a pair of scissor. Although this method gives them a funny haircut, the alpacas are non-mulesed and never sheared until naked.
